Is this the price we have to pay for success? Anna, 26 year old CA, passed away due to work pressure.

Another young life lost to work stress. Anna Sebastian Perayil, a 26-year-old Chartered Accountant, passed away while working at EY Pune. A promising career, cut short by the crushing weight of expectations.

Is this the price we have to pay for success?

We all face the growing pressure of balancing studies, ambitions, and mental health. It’s not just employees who are suffering, but also students who constantly struggle to keep up with unrealistic standards, always being told that overwork is the only path to success.

But at what cost? How many more lives must be lost before we understand that burnout isn’t a badge of honor?

Toxic management, endless hours, and a lack of empathy in the workplace are destroying the future of young professionals. Moving to another job shouldn’t feel like liberation, but for so many, it does. It’s time for leaders to reflect on the true meaning of leadership. When did we stop seeing people and start seeing only numbers?

May her soul rest in peace. 🙏
